Finca Montepedroso is a splendid extension of 25 hectares, situated in the heart of the Origin Appellation, in the town of Rueda, with stony and rustic soils where the vines find their reason for living and are able to offer a wine with the personality of the best plot of Rueda.

Background

The passion of Familia Martínez Bujanda for wine arrives in the second half of the last decade to the Denominación de Origen Rueda (Valladolid, Castilla y León), at the time an emerging wine area dedicated to the elaboration of quality white wines with the personality of an indigenous grape, the Verdejo. The project, as it happened before with Finca Valpiedra (Rioja) or Finca Antigua (La Mancha), needed the best vineyards and a winery integrated in the landscape, with the latest technology to elaborate the best whites.

The Verdejo variety had already been allowed as a new variety both in La Rioja and in La Mancha, but Familia Martínez Bujanda is aware that the identity of a good wine needs also a soil and a characteristic microclimate, a tradition in growing and the elaboration that cannot be withdrawn from their real origin.

Familia Martínez Bujanda bought the estate in 2008 and built a functional and singular winery, almost at ground level of the plateau, and with the typical materials of the area to get a perfect incorporation in the surrounding of vineyards. Finca Montepedroso was opened in April 2012.
